But in the stillness of the forest, it was thunder.
The boy's ears twitched instantly. Without hesitation, he transferred the revolver from his right hand to his left and fired in Kiara's direction.
Zion stepped forward with mechanical precision.
*Ting*
The bullet struck his torso beneath his clothing and dropped harmlessly to the ground.
Icarus's expression shifted. "hmm?" He frowned slightly and activated his perception.
He had sensed Kiara.
But not Zion.
That discrepancy did not go unnoticed.
With a swift motion, he kicked off the branch and landed in front of the boy, intercepting any further shots. The blindfolded child immediately re-aimed at the new presence.
Icarus grabbed the revolver and spoke in a low, firm tone.
"Who is there? Show yourself."
Kiara stepped out from between the trees calmly. "It's me," she said lightly. "Mr. Customer."
As she entered the faint moonlight, recognition dawned on Icarus's face.
"Miss Kiara?"
