Chapter 23 - Cindy

"You all get to sleep in her room," Darien said as he dropped a bunch of sleeping bags at our feet. We had just gotten inside the door too.

"Okay," said Madison pleased, guess she knew she was her in the sentence. Darien rolled his eyes.

"This is going to be so much fun. I call sleeping on the ground." Phoenix shouted.

"Normal people don't just, I don't know, want to sleep on the ground," commented Antonio.

"Do I care? Nope. Does it matter? No. Another one of you will have to join me on the ground." He spoke. "Make room for the two in the bed." He giggled at his joke.

"I will," I volunteered. I was into this joke.

"Sounds good to me," Phoenix stated. He walked past me and Antonio, following Madison to her room. We got in there and Madison put hers on the edge of her bed. I put mine on the floor beside the bed. Phoenix laid his beside mine, he was now blocking the door.

"This should be fun," said Antonio, not too pleased, having to crawl over us all being the last one in the room. We all ended up laying down to sleep but talking about what had happened about the day before, and what might happen next. Antonio was in love with Madison's brother, Phoenix was happy he had new friends, and me and Cindy were happy with them being here.

Antonio fell asleep first, snoring ever so slightly in his sleep, then Madison who was as still as a log. No movement once so ever. Phoenix and I fell asleep at about the same time.

But it didn't seem to last that long for me. Once again, my eyes opened, and I was staring at something. This happened earlier, what was it exactly that I could see?

Standing before me were two people. A boy and a girl. The boy was older, and the girl looked so much younger. She was brighter than he was though. Her light was almost like a candle flame. The boy was Darien.

Standing not too far away from a stone and the girl. Both surrounded by trees and land filled with dirt and small pebbles. Listening to us sleep and talking to someone. Someone I didn't recognize, not yet. I couldn't see her clearly to recognize her.

"Oh, it's a lovely group." The girl stated all bubbly. She was smiling. When she smiled, she looked kind of like Madison. "If only we could have fifty-seven others to win this never-ending battle now."

"There are more," Darien asked, face turning to utter shock. He frowned; it reached farther down his face than I thought it would.

"Yes, my son, I'm afraid so, and the numbers only seem to be growing."

It's her. Madison's mom!

He sighed. "Help me mother, I don't know how to teach these kids. Everything I've learned was by instinct, you can't teach that." He started begging her then. "I'm not fit to be a teacher."

"Then don't teach them. A teacher is not always someone you learn from, but someone who will guild you along the road you wish to take. No teacher has the same method of learning, because there is no proper way to guild someone. Now is it there? Do be kind to them and your sister, and don't forget who you are either." She said, before the light dimmed and she vanished. My eyes after being open for that long had closed before I could see anymore.

I had to think then, and very hard on what I had seen. I needed to help everyone in some way. But how? What was everyone's power? What could we call them?

Phoenix could change his shape to any animal he wanted, and speak with any animal he chose to, he could understand them even. So, his was what? Animal changing, speaking and hearing. Wasn't that like a were-thing?

Antonio was able to not touch and still move someone hard enough to make them injured. What was that called again? Sorcery?

Madison seemed more adaptable now to change, kind of like everything that was around her. Like the dirt as we ran here. Like the trees that constantly moved with the ever-changing wind speed. Maybe, just maybe she had some sort of connection starting with the elements around her. Wouldn't that make her an elemental user?

What about me? What could I do? I heard the voices that weren't said out loud, and I knew before it happened that we were going to have a sleepover. Would it be possible to have two powers? Or are mine not different? Could I possibly be able to hear thoughts and see the unseeable? Am I really able to read minds and see the future?

If there were more people we are going against, wouldn't that mean that even our small group of five would grow too. How many more will come?

A heavy dark blanket took me in then and wrapped me all cozy and warm. I saw nothing again till the morning.
