Chapter 42 - | The Intersection of Memory and Reality 6

Minty: "Since you've retired the magnifying glass and stopped looking for puzzles—does life feel... quieter now? Or does it feel a little bit boring compared to the high-stakes drama of the Jervien era? Is the plain and simple truth enough to keep an imaginative poet like you satisfied, or do you find yourself looking for depth in other places now—like in your own growth instead of in someone else's mystery?"

[The audience waits, curious if the detective ever misses the thrill of the case, or if the peace is truly the ultimate prize.]

Yvonne: "Oh, stop! I didn't even understood some parts of your question but I'll try to answer."

Yvonne: "Peace is never boring. Don't look at peace as something boring. Ever! Peace makes you look deeper in yourself. Makes you discover things about you that you don't know! And as an imaginative poet, like you said Minty, I'm not satisfied with the plain and simple truth. But what can I do? I just accept it and [shrugged her shoulders]let it be."

[The audience is absolutely captivated—the sound of fingers snapping in poet-style approval fills the room. Minty lets out a short, sharp laugh, genuinely charmed by Yvonne's honesty and her willingness to call her out on her complex wording.]

Minty: [Grinning]"Fair point! I'll keep my questions as plain and simple as you keep your life now! And you're right—I should never have used the word boring and peace in the same sentence. You've just redefined peace for all of us: it's not a flat line; it's an inward journey."

[Minty leans forward, her eyes bright. She loves the way Yvonne admit to not being satisfied with the simple truth, yet choosing to accept it anyway. It's the ultimate sign of maturity.]

Minty: "That shrug of the shoulders! That 'Let it be' attitude! It's like you've found the secret to happiness: accepting that life isn't always a deep, dark metaphor, even if the poet in you wishes it were."

[The studio lights seem to soften, and for a moment, the bustling energy of the witnesses in the audience settles into a warm, respectful hum. Minty looks at Yvonne, seeing the calm, resolute way she's sitting—the posture of a woman who has said exactly what she needed to say and not a syllable more.]

Minty: [Closing her notebook with a soft, final thud and smiling warmly] "You know what? I think that's the perfect place to leave it. Any more talk of manuscripts or what-ifs would just be us trying to decode a puzzle that you've already solved. You've given us the truth, the logic, and the peace. Anything else is just noise."

[Minty turns to the camera, her expression full of genuine admiration.]

Minty: "Ladies and gentlemen, the muse, and the woman who taught us all that peace is the ultimate self-love—Yvonne. Thank you for being so unapologetically yourself today."

[The audience stands up, a wave of applause crashing through the studio. They see people nodding, some still whispering Yvonne's lines about 'the ghost' and 'plain truth' to each other. As the music starts to swell and the credits begin to roll in the monitors, Minty reaches over and gives Yvonne's hand a quick, supportive squeeze.]

Minty: [Off-mic, with a wink] "You did great. Now go enjoy that quiet car ride home."
