They walked quietly for a while, and suddenly, Eleanor Whittaker sighed and said, "Tessa, what do you think Xavier Warren means when he says he's breaking up but claims to love me? He says he only feels responsible for that woman because she's pregnant."
She spoke with a sense of resignation.
But to Tessa Caldwell and Nora Harrow, her words sounded extremely harsh.
"Affairs of the heart are not for outsiders to comment on."
Tessa Caldwell discreetly withdrew her hand and quickened her pace, as did Nora Harrow, leaving Eleanor Whittaker behind.
Eleanor Whittaker watched their backs, curling her lips coolly.
Standing on a small slope, she glanced around to ensure no one was around. Then, she took out a sachet of clear liquid from her bag, a concoction she had someone specially prepare for her.
Soon, when she spills it on the ground, it will dry quickly, but if someone walks over it carelessly, they'll slip.
