Lucan stood at the mouth of the cave and looked up the side of the Stone Spire.
The mountain rose so far above him that its peak disappeared into the clouds. He could keep climbing, but he had already spent several hours reaching this point. The wedding was the following day. Even if time moved faster inside Evolution, Silent would still kill him if he arrived late because he had decided to climb an endless mountain.
He turned towards the cave.
"We are going inside," Lucan said.
Adrestia chirped from his shoulder.
"It is not because I am afraid of climbing higher. This is the more efficient choice."
The shadow drake chirped again.
"I am glad you agree."
Lucan summoned a ball of pale light above his palm and stepped into the split in the mountain. The cave narrowed after several hundred feet, forcing him to turn sideways to squeeze through. The stone around him was filled with earth mana. It was so dense that Menta's eye made the walls appear to glow with a dull brown light.
