Jace Pierce raised an eyebrow, not forgetting to brag about her boyfriend even now.
"Where's Maverick Knight?" Aurora Blaine asked.
At this point, Jace Pierce could no longer carry out Maverick Knight's instructions.
"He's hurt." Jace said honestly.
Aurora frowned. "Is it serious? How is he now?"
Jace: "His condition has stabilized."
This morning, Maverick Knight had finally made it out of the danger period and was gradually stabilizing.
Aurora narrowed her eyes. "You lied to me that day?"
Facing the girl's unfriendly gaze, Jace admitted, "Pretty much."
"The one who replied to my messages—was that you?" Aurora asked again.
So this was why Maverick Knight had gone off the grid?
When she got that reply from him that night, she'd already felt something was off.
They only exchanged a few lines before he made an excuse to cut it short; when she tried to start a video call, it was rejected.
Something had felt very wrong.
