CHAPTER 247
Vex steadied his weight against himself.
Ezekiel's breathing had become ragged. One hand clutched tightly over his chest. Right where the fading mate bond lay beneath his shirt. It felt like burning. As though fire had been poured directly beneath his skin. Every breath he took was agony.
Vex immediately dragged him toward the nearest chair. "Sit."
Ezekiel no longer had the strength to refuse. He collapsed onto it, his head lowered while his fingers dug desperately into his own chest.
Alistair's expression changed. "Check his chest." His voice sharpened. "It might be the bond."
Azmael reacted immediately. He knelt before Ezekiel. "Please allow me, Your Majesty." His hands had already begun undoing the buttons of Ezekiel's shirt.
