Chapter 12 - NECKLACE

'They were.. a family to you.' Nash's words continued to spin around Ashleah's mind until the next day. Eyes were tired as she walked beside Nash, on the wah to their school.

"You okay?" Nash asked, mind wasn't clear. Ashleah didn't answer him but continued to walk like she was in some kind of deep hole inside her mind.

"a family..?" she mumbled to herself, before Ashleah can even repeat the same word over and over again, Nash quickly walked in front of her, stoppimg Ashleah to continue her walk.

He breathed out lightly and stared directly at Ashleah's eyes. "You're thinking about that dream, aren't you?" Startled, Ashleah tried avoiding his gaze.

"I wasn't." Ashleah attempted to change the topic, but sadly it didn't work on Nash, a small smile crept into his face, giggling softly Nash wiped his face using the palm of his hands.

"You're trying too hard to change the topic. I told you to take it slow right?" He said, Nash started walking again and Ashleah walked behind him.

"Well, I mean if you were on my spot how can you forget them? It feels like it was real too!" Ashleah uttered while pouting, Nash was goinh to keep his hands inside his pocket when he gasped loudly.

"Ah shoot." He said as he took a glance of what he felt inside his pocket, and yet again even if he sees this like every week. It still sent shivers down his spine.

"What you looking at?" Ashleah interrogated, turning around she saw how bothered Nash was. "Let me see!" interested about what Nash was holding, she tried to grab his hands.

"Ashleah! Don't!" He groaned loudly trying to hide what he was holding inside his pockets. Eyebrows furrowed, Ashleah was now more curious what he was hiding.

Cling! The necklace fell on the ground, it made a small metal sound when it touched the ground. Ashleah's eyebrows rose in surprise. It was the same necklace that she saw that day!

"I-I thought you lost that necklace when I saved the woman." She gulped slowly, she tried bending down to get the necklace but Nash's reflexes were a bit faster than hers.

"It's fine, I found it." He said holding the necklace tightly, Nash's heart was beating loudly as he tried to hide the necklace from the curious Ashleah.

"The necklace." She said, making Nash freeze. "Why is it so important to you?" Her eyes tried to look at Nash's eyes. And yet, she got completely avoided.

"Yes, it's so important to me." Sighing in defeat, he answered Ashleah's question. "It's my only hope for now." Smiling sadly he turned around, and now Ashleah was facing his back.

Guilty, Ashleah felt like she opened a topic that shouldn't be opened. They continued walking but Nash suddenly spoke.

"It's my only hope to save someone." He said, she didn't answer.. Ashleah just continued listening to him. "It's important but I hate it so much, I want to break it. Stomp on it and throw it away." He ruffled his hair because of frustration.

"So the necklace gives you good and bad memories?" Nash nodded, he stopped and glanced at Ashleah.

"The necklace, was from my family Ashleah." He said, Nash was smiling but you can see it in his eyes that there was pain, that there was suffering.

"Then, why do you hate it so much?" Clueless, Ashleah questioned him. A small sigh escaped Nash's lips as he continued walking slowly.

"Because the necklace reminds me that.. I am a bad person." Blink, blink. Ashleah's eyes flickered as she looked at him. Shocked, she held Nash's hand tightly.

"You are not a bad person Nash, what made you think that you were? Did you do something bad to me? No right." She said, Ashleah was doing her best to comfort the man.

"You'd hate me Ashleah.. You will hate me." He said before removing her hand from his and continued walking. Her heartaches, seeing him walking away from her hurts. It hurts so bad.

They were both silent, not until the topic changed into reincarnation. Ashleah's heart skipped a beat, as for Nash he cough a little loudly.

"Okay guys, now our topic for today is Reincarnation, what is Reincarnation? Anyone from the class?" Their teacher asked, the vice president raised her hand and smiled.

"Reincarnation is where the non-physical essence of a living being starts a new life in a different physical form or body after biological death." She answered, they clapped and the teacher nodded in response.

"So yes, Reincarnation is where when you die, instead of going to heaven or hell. You just get a new life, and sometimes you'll forget about your past life and some people don't." Ashleah was listening carefully to every word that he was saying.

"It is the concept that the soul, or some aspect of the soul, is reborn into new lives. You can reincarnate into humans, animals, and even plants!" He exclaimed excitedly as he started strolling around the room while discussing.

Ashleah felt like this topic was for her, was she reincarnated? Is that why this was happening to her? There was a small smile on her face.

"Truth to be told, I, myself do believe in reincarnation." Raising an eyebrow, Ashleah continued to listen. Nash just shook his head with a silly smile on his face.

"Don't you feel weird when you suddenly remember names of people that you don't even know who they are? Remembering scenes like it really happened to you. Weird stuffs right?" A small giggle escapes their teacher's mouth.

"Sir!" A student raised her hand, standing up slowly she asked a question. "Then was there a God of reincarnation or something?"

Before he can even answer, we heard Nash laughing. He covered his mouth but small giggles can still be heard from him.

"There was. They believed in him a long long time ago, as far as I remember it was Emperor Reece's Era, but after some tragedy that happened, he did everything to forget about the God of Reincarnation."

Shock, her mouth was dropping open slightly. Her heart was beating loudly, and as if it was on cue their teacher snapped his fingers and pointed at her.

"Oh my! What coincidence, you have the same surname with the Emperor. He was one of the greatest emperor out there, but he lost his child. Nobody knew the real story behind it." He sighed and he sure was disappointed.

"It happened 150 years ago, but still questions were left unanswered. What happened to the Crown Princess? Why did the Emperor hate the God of Reincarnation? Why—" The bell suddenly rang, the teacher chuckled and bid their goodbyes.

But Ashleah didn't even move. She didn't dare to move a single muscle. Gasp, she started to gasp for air. She felt like she was suffocating.

"Are you okay?" Nash asked, he tried helping Ashleah who was currently having a panic attack. "Hey hey, calm down."

Her eyes wandered around the room, and it landed on Nash's neck, she saw the necklace again.. it was glowing red.

"The necklace.. it's red Nash!" The transparent necklace that was oval shaped, was now color red. It was like the color of Nash's eyes.
