"That was quite unexpected," Rean commented, still staring at the spot where Duze had vanished. "The guy just disappeared. I thought he would at least answer a few more questions for us..."
Roan ignored Rean's complaint for the moment, his attention focused on the surroundings. The winged pink spheres that had accompanied Duze were nowhere to be seen anymore. Every last one of them had vanished alongside him as if they had never existed.
Even now, Roan had no idea what those things truly were. Spirits? Artificial lifeforms? Some entirely different race? The only thing he knew for certain was that one of them had entered each of their bodies before Duze left.
'Those things are monitoring us,' Roan warned through their soul connection. 'From now on, we need to be extremely careful.'
Rean, however, shook his head almost immediately.
'That isn't quite right.'
The others turned to him in surprise. Even Roan raised an eyebrow, waiting for an explanation.
