The dome formed once more, enclosing him in its intricate lattice of symbols. The outside world faded, the presence of the elders disappearing as the runes condensed into a barrier that separated him from everything else.

He closed his eyes and began circulating the Calming Heart Sutra. His breathing slowed, his thoughts settled, and his awareness turned inward. The transition into the trance state came faster this time, smoother, as if his mind had already adapted to the process.
