Travis felt something wasn't right, a subtle prickle at the back of his neck warning him that something in the girl's story didn't quite line up, but he couldn't pinpoint what it was. He gave Jenny a slow, penetrating once-over, his dark eyes searching her face for a flicker of hesitation before he ultimately turned around on his heel to leave.
"If you did something awful... if you hurt her, don't expect her to forgive you," Jenny stated firmly toward Travis's lonely, retreating back.
He stopped in his tracks for a brief moment, his broad shoulders tensing under his coat. But he didn't refute what she said or offer a single defense; he simply resumed his stride, walking silently down the quiet hallway toward the elevator.
