"We have to discuss this in private later." Leo gathered his attention and focused back on the Matron. "I think I will take you up on that drink," Leo reached for a glass. One shot at this to make it work easily. "I think we all need to relax a little."
The Matron was surprised at Leo's choice. Selecting some of the poisoned wine at that. Given the state of his partner Morinth currently, Sha'ira was not to sure of the situation all of a sudden. But years of practice allowed her to keep composed.
She gave a firm nod and spoke, "Go right ahead. It is quite the exquisite taste. I should gift wrap some to share with your crew."
The guest lowered his sword and stopped. If Leo brought poisoned wine back to the crew of the Normady, that would be a win for later.
"A little bit won't hurt. It should help me get my head on straight while the Matron gives us the details on something else." Leo responded simply. "Let us talk about a certain Prothean Beacon." Sha'ira's controlled demeanor completely faltered at that. "I know you have some info to confirm about it."
Sha'ira grabbed hold of the other glass, a lapse in judgment about which drink was safe. It was the time to strike before the situation turned worse.
"Duck and roll!" Leo yelled and threw the glass pass her shoulders, hitting what was behind the matron. This causes the wine to scatter all on the person. 'Well, this will be fun.'
Sha'ira ducked, but she didn't roll. Instead, she kicked backward, making contact with her would-be assassin. The momentum shot her past Leo, landing next to a safer position.
The wine covered silhouette stepped back, wiping the wine off the visor. Morinth fired the biotic blast she had prepared. Sending her target flying into the wall. The helmet cracked apart from the unexpected contact, revealing the face more.
A young Kai Lang. But a few features were off. Namely, the cybernetics all along the face. Someone did some damage to him, pretty damn fierce it looked like. Leo's spiritual sense wrapped around quickly to inspect. His Aspect of Fertility triggering a little, and passing over what was going on.
"A clone?" Leo mumbled, taken aback by the info. 'I have to get a hold of him! Clone tech is a must-have for the future!'
"You will pay for that!" He snarls at Leo while gripping the heavy pistol in one hand. Voice coming out with a weird echo mixed into it. "First the asari, then you!" A leveled shot towards Sha'ira was blocked by Morinth.
Leo shot forward and made contact with the clone's side. Not holding back physically in the least. "Ahh!" The clone screamed and stepped forward in retaliation. An actual sword in the opposite arm, swinging fast. "Bastard!"
*Woosh!* The sword strike missed as Leo bent back a little. The heavy pistol in the clone's hand fired at his stomach. No need to dodge the first few shots and miss the chance at striking back.
A quick palm thrust to the clone's sword hand was delivered. Faster than the assassin could react, Leo's palm strike destroyed the outer layer of the hand. The armor plating breaking off and scattering. Underneath, no flesh was visible. A synthetic arm in its place.
"Tch!" The clone sucked his teeth. Biotics were lighting up his body as he struck back. He let loose a Shockwave that slammed into Leo. "No way!" The biotic might that was unleashed only pushed him back an inch or two. "Try this!"
*Boop!* A few micro grenades dropped into the clone's hands. A flick of the wrist and they were launched at Leo. A wave of biotic energy wrapped the grenades up as they were crushed. With a release, smoke obscured vision for a moment.
Leo shot through, delivering a palm strike to the chest. Biotic energy kicking up the damage. It traveled through, bypassing the armor completely.
Leo's spiritual sense picked up shots as they went off in the waiting area. A lot of shots. Zaed might have bitten off more than he could chew. Then again, it would be the perfect chance for the old merc to cut loose.
"Go help Zaed. We will take care of this!" A strange feeling rose in Leo's chest. His Aspect of Bloodshed was pulsing. It was dangerous outside. Morinth didn't hesitate for more than a few seconds. She looked at Sha'ira with a glower. Then shot out heading to the lobby.
"You are more trouble than I thought." The clone was starting to get heated. His single focus only on Leo now. His armor started to vent a little. Energy build ups or an overload or something by the looks of it. 'I will have to make this quick.' A concussive shot was launched from the synthetic arm.
*Boom!* An explosion rang out as Leo attacked the tech base. The energy was wrapped up by his spirit energy as he spun and sent it back. The Kai Lang clone had just enough time to redistribute his shielding.
The force carried the clone across the room. His spiritual sense is picking up something by the balcony. A large something at that that contain way to much for him to decipher in his current state. Then something else became a problem with a new entry into the room.
*Crack!* A breaking noise rang out in the room next. Leo didnt check to see what it was from as he charged to the balcony to intercept before things got worse. "Sha'ira, move out now!" The clone was worse for wear as he sat up on the bed.
"Ha..ha.. not gonna fail this mission!" His mouth was bloody as his vision started to blur. "You are so dead!" The synthetic graph started to break loose on the clone's face. Sparks coming out of the part that connected to the actual flesh.
*Pow!* Sha'ira fired a heavy pistol she pulled from a concealed location. Her shot hit the clone's forehead dead center. The clone slumped back on the bed. Eyes closing.
Leo erected a biotic barrier just in time. The new entry thrown in from the balcony popped up and spun in a whirl, opening up wide. Multiple spikes are discharged in an instant. Lodging into the walls with a red light on top.
*Bring!* Instead of bouncing off the barrier, they seem to latch on in a way. Leo couldn't even disperse the biotic energy.
"Oh shit!" Leo cursed as they all detonated at once. He had just enough time to jump back from the balcony edge. "How bad would that have been if my barrier didn't stop it from spreading further in?" As he thought that over after musing out loud, a bad feeling drew his attention.
Sha'ira was still feeling the effects of whatever poison was in her system. Her legs were wobbly as she leaned against the wall, looking at her balcony. The pistol to heavy to hold. It slipped from her grip at the worst time.
*Bzzt!* A surge of white electricity traveled up the clone's spine. Eyes lighting up as it came back online. The synthetic arm spread open, revealing a hidden blade.
"Get down!" Leo yelled. It was to late. "Damn cyborgs, I swear!" He cursed while shooting forward.
*Schlk!* The launched blade stabbed into her side. Basically skewering her. Almost like a mechanical doll, the clone jumped up towards Sha'ira.
"Do not bleed out on me!" Leo intercepts the next attack. Grabbing hold of the arm, he tried to crush it. Only slight squeaks could be heard now. Whatever happened to the clone boosted its defenses. 'So many questions. The tech.... I defintely want it.'
A.I.- Do curb your desires. Sha'ira would be better for your plans. Damn it, focus on the assassin; everything else can be dealt with later! Not a time for experiments!
"That look in your eyes.. so unnatural." The clone assesses Leo's mental state. "So detached from her well-being. More interested in me. I am flattered." The eye looked to be more synthetic now. The graph is actually spreading on the clone in real time.
"Hmm, maybe." Leo smiled, amused. He gave a front kick, sending the clone away. Taking a knee as he dropped some medi-gel on the bleeding matron. With a quick pull, the blade was pulled out. "Stay low and down as you recover." He leaned down and gave a whisper lowly. "My stuff is a little different. You will be back on your feet in no time. Try to look for a chance."
"Your still such a sloppy fighter, you know that?" Sha'ira mumbled back. "The killer already moved back into hiding. Shouldn't take your eyes off the prey till their dead."
She was right but Leo had a sense of the location already.
*Swoosh!* A blade passed out near Leo's side as he shifted away. Knocking against the clone Lang's side, he was moved towards the couch.
'Things are turning for the worse. I think that shuttle from before is making another pass this way. That or C-sec.' Leo cycled his blood energy and spirit energy. Determined to rip apart the improved metal of his enemy.
Striking out with a palm strike, Leo watched as lightning gathered around. He made note that the Lightning Palm he barely read was showing results already. Defintely needed to spend more time on it.
*Chck Chck!* With a shift, the synthetic arm reconfigured into a sharper blade. Kinetic energy pulsing on one side of it. Both strikes met quickly. Moving at speeds faster than Sha'ira could see.
*Tink!* The blade gave way easily from the power Leo exuded now. Almost like he was expecting it, the clone grinned. The side of the mouth opens a little as a gun barrel stuck out.
"Clever..." Leo reared back a little.
*Boom!* Kai Lang fired a concussive shot right at Leo point-blank. The energy that exuded from the suit channeled through it.
Leo threw up a quick shield. His shielding flickered as smoke billowed around, mixed with energy disbursements. Looking through the smoke in the corner of his eye, Leo watched the clone's next movement.
Lang had gotten a complete Omni blade ready. He tapped something on his wrist urgently. A few sparks are flying but something was getting through command wise. A small console came up, then highlighted red. From the looks of it, a few shuttles were on their way to this destination.
"Damn them! They are just useless and will not cost me this mission!" The clone said to himself, frustrated. He looked over to the Matron, who started to stand up. "You and me, we are gonna have words Asari. Don't go anywhere." He kicked a chair at her.
"Lift." Sha'ira said calmly. Her voice was completely controlled. The chair stopped under her control. Almost completely recovered, she was quite upset about the damage to her home and the attempt on her life several times. 'Oh, what the hell!' She used Fling on the furniture. It flew towards her assailant.
The clone jumped from side to side to get away. Almost everything that was not bolted down was sent flying at him faster than he could process the change in the situation. Very quickly, the energy available to the clone was burning out. Breathing is getting worse, and movement becomeing ever more erratic.
Another chair was grabbed and made contact in Lang's side. But it was the Omni-tool. A really good target considering everything.
*Crack!* It was blasted apart by raw biotic energy. An old Asasri commando trick of creating a biotic grenade in an object. A few scratches on his face and a cut around the mouthpiece that dangled.
'Damn, she knows her stuff, wonder how good she would be in her prime?' Leo kept his eyes on the Matron. Lingering just long enough to piss off the clone.
"You shouldn't drop your guard!" The clone yells as he charges over swinging his malfunctioning Omni blade at Leo. His strength from the charge was downright inhuman for his frame, that speed using up the last of the energy available to him.
"Yeah, I wasn't. I was just baiting you to attack so I could do this." Leo pushed the Lighting Palm technique even harder. "Just another dysfunctional clone doing god knows what for who knows what."
*Scccrrchh!* Leo shifted his palm that was against the blade. Guiding his movement to the side following that angle. The clone pulled away to try and keep his omni-blade from dispersing. AS if a force pulled him forward, he was forced to clash with Leo again and again. With each strike, Leo sent his spiritual sense into the clone.
Mapping the biological makeup as best he could. But to much interference came from the synthetic component inside the clone. And with the blasted A.I. more concerned about Sha'ira, Leo couldn't get a good copy of the synthetic set up. Or lower the security inside.
