Chapter 870 - Chapter 860. Demonic Costume Drone?

The Incubus System Chapter 860. Demonic Costume Drone?

Larry and the demon hunters' PoV

Larry, having momentarily shed his dramatic facade, focused on the immediate task at hand.

"Alright, team, let's move. We've got to check these folks," Larry said, gesturing toward the elderly victims scattered around. "We need to make sure they're alive," he instructed his companions.

Three of his fellow demon hunters joined him, each taking a person to examine. They knelt beside the elderly victims, carefully assessing their conditions, and ensuring their well-being.

"If they are awake, gently help them up, make sure they are comfortable, and keep an eye out for any unusual activity. We don't want any more surprises," Larry instructed, blending a touch of seriousness with his usual flair for the dramatic.

They checked for pulses, monitored breathing, and inspected for any injuries that might require immediate attention.

Meanwhile, Nathan, focused and composed, activated his Demon Compass and swiftly dialed the organization. "We need several ambulances dispatched immediately. Elderly victims, condition unknown," Nathan reported.

"Do you have more information?" the operator acknowledged the request.

"I can't determine their condition yet. But they're all alive, and there don't seem to be any signs of life-threatening injuries either," he conveyed.

Simultaneously, two other demon hunters, along with Nathan, also began sweeping the surrounding area. Their task was to ensure there were no lurking demons or potential threats in the vicinity. Methodically checking every nook and cranny, they maintained a watchful eye on their surroundings.

The other three demon hunters carefully lifted each person and placed them on the nearby bench. While it wasn't the most luxurious setting, it offered more comfort than the cold ground they had been lying on.

Larry, having successfully positioned the old man on the bench, stepped back to admire his work. The elderly man now sat in a considerably less embarrassing posture.

A vibration interrupted his sense. Retrieving his phone from his pocket, he noticed a new message, and, unsurprisingly, it was from Ethan.

Ethan: Oi, I heard that! That absurd pose was your idea, not mine! Traitor!

Larry couldn't help but cringe at the unexpected call-out. His forehead wrinkled into a frown, Larry's mind raced with questions.

How did Ethan know about the absurd pose? Was Ethan still lurking nearby, observing their every move?

Larry's eyes darted in search of any sign of Ethan.

But his phone buzzed once more, signaling another incoming message. Larry returned his focus to the glowing screen.

Ethan: What are you looking for, dumbass? I'm not there. My spy is up there.

'Spy?' Larry's frown deepened. He couldn't resist another sweep of his surroundings.

Checking that no prying eyes were fixated on him, he directed his gaze upward toward the night sky.

In the dimly lit expanse, a peculiar sight unfolded, a small demon with bat wings, boasting only a single eye, hovered above.

Larry's eyes widened in disbelief. 'What the heck! He even has his own costume drone! This isn't fair!' his mind protested.

With a reluctant cringe, Larry redirected his attention to the phone clutched in his hand. He furiously tapped out his response.

Larry: Costume drone? Really? You've upgraded from demonic powers to tech gadgets now? That's just cheating, man! You should lend it to me someday.

Ethan: In your dreams! I just want to make sure you're okay. Be careful back home, okay?

Larry couldn't help but sport a stupid grin in response to Ethan's message. Despite all the chaos and absurdity, Ethan's concern warmed Larry's demon hunter heart. He swiftly typed out his reply.

Larry: Don't worry, man. I'm strong, ya know.

Slipping the phone back into his pocket, Larry resumed his act of tending to the elders, feigning busyness.

Not far away, Nathan scanned the surroundings with his Demon Compass, ensuring there were no lingering demonic entities. The readings came back clear, indicating that the immediate threat had been neutralized. However, his attention wasn't entirely focused on the absence of the demons.

Observing Larry's ability to hold his ground against the Great Demon left Nathan... bewildered. He couldn't understand how Larry, a skilled but comparatively less potent demon hunter than him, could engage in such a battle unscathed. There were no apparent injuries on Larry's body, which defied the logic dictated by the difference in their strengths.

Nathan furrowed his brow, his thoughts clouded by confusion.

Amidst the perplexity, Nathan shot a sidelong glance at Larry, who was busy tending to the elders near the bench. 'Does he possess similar abilities to Mr. Renart?' the question nagged at Nathan, and irritation tightened his grip on his fists.
