Naruto: The Second Chance of Obito Uchiha
Chapter 12: The Four Front War
The Third Great Ninja War had become a conflict unlike anything the shinobi world had seen in years.
What began as border disputes had turned into a war involving every major Hidden Village.
The Hidden Stone pushed from the west.
The Hidden Cloud attacked from the east.
The Hidden Sand fought across the northern front.
The Hidden Mist operated through covert missions and assassination attempts.
The Hidden Leaf was surrounded.
And every decision made could determine whether thousands lived or died.
Far away from the battlefield, inside the Hidden Leaf Village, the Hokage Tower remained active day and night.
Hiruzen Sarutobi stood before a massive map of the entire war.
Reports covered his desk.
Messenger ninja arrived constantly.
Every battlefield depended on the decisions made within these walls.
"The situation is worsening," one advisor reported.
"Iwagakure is increasing pressure along the western border."
"Cloud forces are attacking our supply routes."
"Sunagakure has begun mobilizing more troops."
Hiruzen closed his eyes for a moment.
The village was being tested from every direction.
"We must not allow ourselves to be divided."
He looked toward the war map.
"Send updated orders to our commanders."
Meanwhile, on the front lines, Konoha's greatest shinobi gathered inside a forward command headquarters.
This was not the Hokage's office.
This was where battles were planned and lives were saved.
Inside the command tent stood:
Jiraiya.
Tsunade.
Orochimaru.
Minato Namikaze.
Shikaku Nara.
Several elite jonin commanders.
A large battlefield map covered the table.
Shikaku moved several markers.
"Iwa is attempting to break through our western defenses."
He moved another.
"Kumo is targeting our supply routes and communication lines."
Another.
"Suna is applying pressure from the north."
He looked toward the final marker.
"And Kirigakure continues sending assassins and infiltration teams."
The room became quiet.
Four enemies.
Four battlefronts.
Jiraiya crossed his arms.
"They're trying to force us into making mistakes."
Orochimaru calmly replied,
"Which means we cannot respond emotionally."
Tsunade looked over the casualty reports.
"Every day this war continues, more people suffer."
Minato studied the map.
"Then we need to end each battle as quickly as possible."
The commanders divided their responsibilities.
Jiraiya would lead offensive operations against Iwagakure and gather intelligence behind enemy lines.
Tsunade would oversee the medical divisions moving between battlefields, ensuring wounded shinobi received treatment as quickly as possible.
Orochimaru would command elite strike units targeting enemy supply routes and communication networks.
Minato and Team Minato would be deployed wherever the fighting was most critical.
The war was moving too quickly for any single force to remain in one place.
On the northern front, Team Minato arrived to support a Leaf unit under attack from Sunagakure forces.
The battlefield was covered in sand.
Puppets moved between the trees.
Poisoned blades filled the air.
Kakashi immediately recognized the threat.
"Puppeteers."
Rin nodded.
"We need to avoid their weapons."
Obito watched carefully.
The movements were familiar.
The control strings.
The hidden traps.
The precision.
These were techniques from some of the Sand's greatest shinobi.
"Stay close."
The team moved forward.
A puppet rushed toward them.
Kakashi blocked the attack with his blade.
Another puppet launched poisoned needles toward Rin.
Obito instantly moved.
He threw several kunai, cutting the strings before the attack could land.
The puppet crashed to the ground.
The Suna shinobi controlling it stepped back.
"You noticed the strings?"
Obito smiled.
"Yeah."
The enemy narrowed his eyes.
"You have unusual awareness for your age."
Obito said nothing.
He had learned the hard way that every small detail could mean survival.
The battle continued for hours.
Minato moved across the battlefield like a flash of lightning.
Wherever he appeared, the enemy fell.
The Leaf forces slowly pushed the Sand shinobi back.
Eventually, the enemy withdrew.
But everyone knew it was temporary.
The war had only one certainty.
The enemy would return.
That night, another messenger arrived.
Kumogakure had attacked a different front.
The report described powerful Lightning Style users and overwhelming physical strength.
Minato read the message quietly.
"The Cloud is increasing its attacks."
Kakashi looked concerned.
"How many enemies are we fighting?"
Minato stared at the battlefield map.
"Everyone."
Back at the forward command headquarters, the commanders gathered again.
Jiraiya returned from a reconnaissance mission.
"Iwa is preparing another offensive."
Tsunade removed her gloves after a long day treating wounded shinobi.
"The medical units are reaching their limits."
Orochimaru placed enemy documents on the table.
"The other villages are testing our defenses."
Shikaku sighed.
"They're waiting for us to make one mistake."
Minato looked at the map.
"Then we can't give them one."
Later that night, Obito stood outside the camp.
The sounds of war surrounded him.
Explosions in the distance.
Shinobi moving through the darkness.
Medical tents filled with wounded soldiers.
This was the reality of the Third Great Ninja War.
Not legends.
Not stories.
People.
Lives.
He looked at the stars.
In his previous life, he had allowed this pain to consume him.
He had blamed the world.
He had chosen hatred.
But Naruto had shown him that another path existed.
A path where people could change.
A path where the future wasn't fixed.
Rin approached quietly.
"You always come out here when you're thinking."
Obito smiled.
"Am I really that easy to read?"
She nodded.
"Yes."
They stood together silently.
Then Kakashi joined them.
For a moment, the three teammates simply watched the battlefield.
The same three people who were supposed to be separated by tragedy.
Standing together.
Obito clenched his fist.
This time…
He would protect them.
No matter what.
Far away in the Hidden Leaf Village, Hiruzen looked over the latest battlefield reports.
The war was spreading.
The enemy nations were becoming more aggressive.
And Konoha's future depended on the young shinobi fighting on the front lines.
Among them…
A young Uchiha who carried memories of a future that no longer had to happen.
The Third Great Ninja War continued.
And history was beginning to change.
