A rush of endorphins runs throughout their bodies, Cheshire with too many mixed emotions and thoughts pulls back. "I, I don't know if we should…" she stumbles through. Before anything could be done or said she ran off quickly with a "goodnight." Whiskers sat for a while in that moment of silence, gathering his thoughts about the day. He is fully ready to help out a good cause but knows not everyone is the same, he can tell Cheshire has a secret but he is feeling a deep connection to her that he wants to explore.
whiskers woke up the next day to a delicious smell, a home cooked breakfast. Cheshire and him walk into this kitchen area at the same time, eyes meeting. Whiskers eyes were happy and welcoming as Cheshire would meet his eyes then look away kind of embarrassed. Teelak sits a few plates of food on the table then sits down, "dig in" she says as she starts to fill her plate. As they eat she starts to talk about the day, she wants to show them a special area. "you two have gained my trust, I know you want to help. This base is just my area and lab but there is still life in this old mountain."
showing is better than telling sometimes so she shows them a small community of survivors, housing set up, different creatures around with a central market. The Tabaxi pair were shocked, surprised there are so many living in this mountain, this supposed to be dead and dangerous mountain. up until now they have only seen wild animals but here there are people trying to make a life for themselves. As they walked around it had a few families shopping, several shops trying to sell what they had but not a big crowd. There was definitely still an odd vibe in the air, something was off. "have you noticed yet?" Dr.Teelak asked. "that's right, no humans anywhere. I guess that was a big part of the plan was to drive and kill humans out of the area. maybe the planet." she goes on to explain how everyone is still sick and even the ones who are healthy still have a cough and asthma from the after effects. She is close to a treatment and possible cure along with a vaccine for a human. As the group walk through this makeshift city they see the good and hope in people trying to make things better for themselves, they all respect Dr.Teelak as she has taken up a leader role.
Whiskers would stop and help someone here or there and would catch a look from Cheshire when she would admire how sweet this cat was. They spent the day getting to know several of the main players and key figures of this town, learning about the goals and what Teelak found out so far. Turns out the government wanted to get rid of the human population along with driving out lower class citizens, together forming a small rebellion of sorts to create a more welcoming society. These were the individuals that had enough of the government, enough of the system, and they just wanted a chane to live happily. A chance to truly help, truly make a difference in the universe we all share.
After a long day of helping around the town, seeing the hopes and dreams of Teelak come alive, and how everyone is trying to correct a great wrong, the Tabaxis were understandably drained. Teelak has gone to her lab to research and work on the cure for the plasma sickness she was going to rest at nothing to create a cure. Meanwhile the tabaxis go somewhere private to talk as hunters, they want to decide how to keep hunters away from Teelak and the best way they can help everyone. They find an empty little eatery that's been set up, it's a noodle shop where they can sit down, eat and talk. "I want to do something to help, I can get the guild to stop sending agents for a while, a favor I can call in." Whiskers starts in. After a short pause while they shared concerned looks, whiskers started again with. "We should try and dig deeper into this situation, and why the government went through such lengths to destroy these people." Cheshire was quiet, her mind racing, with thoughts about this place and people, thoughts of how to get Teelak captured, and her feelings that are growing for Whiskers. All day she was able to see him be kind, caring, and truly a gentleman but has also seen him kill and knows he has darkness in his eyes. "I want to follow you to the end of the universe whisk, but im not sure i am ready." she says out loud while looking directly into his eyes.
In this lingering moment after the words left her mouth and before he could answer, in-between breaths, a millisecond in reality but time was almost standing still. One instance stretched out into an eternity. Whiskers heart races as he hears himself "Is this happening? She is so amazing. Will us work?" All these thoughts and questions to himself. They leaned in closer and closer second by second, slowly until they kissed. A spark was instantly felt between both of them, a feeling somehow familiar but brand new. Everything else fades away as the pair get tunnel vision and over these few minutes no one else exists besides them.
Coughing snaps them back into the now as the server gets their attention and sets the ramen down. "Sorry to interrupt your moment but hope you like the food" as the pair blush and thank the server, clearly wanting to be left alone." Once she walks away the Tabaxi pair share a giggle and a delicious meal. Later on they found themselves alone again, in a small flat that the community had free for the new helpers. With a drink in-between them and the pair going shot for shot. First two shots and a buzz sets in, feeling closer to anyone than ever before whiskers eyes were sparkling with growing feels. Cheshire seemed like she was still holding back her deepest truth, however she definitely wanted to. She took another shot and let her hand fall into his, "I want to tell you but I can't yet, and I want to be 100% into helping all these people but I don't know if I can with the baggage I have." Whiskers understandingly answered "I'm here for you whenever you're ready, and as long as you are with me I'll keep you safe."
