Sylvan Cheney wrote back a few words: Tomorrow, in the office.
Jasmine Yale was still asleep, the dim light in the parking lot falling on her face, making her appear especially serene.
Sylvan turned to look at her for a long time, a faint smile playing on his lips.
He closed his eyes and leaned back in the seat.
The underground parking lot was utterly silent.
No one knew how much time had passed, but the baby in Jasmine's belly kicked her several times, causing her to frown and wake up.
"My back hurts," she whispered.
"Hmm?" Sylvan, who hadn't been asleep, opened his eyes immediately, "What's wrong? Are you uncomfortable?"
"How did I fall asleep? My back's so sore, carry me," she said.
"Okay, I'll take you back to the apartment first." He unbuckled her seatbelt and removed the blanket that covered her.
Sylvan lifted her out of the car, allowing her to loop her arms around his neck.
"Boss, I'm so tired, can I skip the shower?"
"No, you can't. I'll help you bathe then."
