Chapter 1 - A Mysterious Man

"I will not marry him, I don't care if his mother is your best friend, I refuse to marry him!" Marina shouted at her mother from across their rather luxurious table covered in a feast one would say was fit for a king.

"This isn't about what you want dear, it's about what's best for you and the future of your family. Besides it's already been arranged, he is of noble standing, infact he is next in line for the throne, you simply must marry him!" her mother shot back maintaining her cool as she rested her hand almost apologetically on her daughter's hand. Marina swiftly snatched her hand away from her mother's grasp a look of scorn dancing with the anger upon her face.

"I don't care about his noble standing or that he's the air to the throne, I am not a power hungry gold digger like you, mother!" Marina shouted as she stands up so fast her chair tips over behind her.

"You will marry him and that's final!" her father shouts from the head of the table slamming his fist on the table. Marina glares at her father

"So now you care about me and my decisions? Well now it doesn't matter what you want, I refuse to marry him!" she shrieks before storming out of the house in rage. her father starts to follow her but her mother stops him.

"Hank, just let her calm down and think things through she will come to her senses eventually." she sighs clearly worn out from the argument with her headstrong daughter.

"Fine." Hank Huff's out sitting back down at his spot at the table and looking out the window.

Marina runs down the beaches shoreline she simply couldn't believe her mother would even suggest something so preposterous! Can you imagine marrying a prince simply because the queen is your god mother, Marina was hard time digesting the fact that her parents would do such a thing as arrange a marriage for her before she was even born. She continued to run as she let herself get lost in hed thoughts. Before long she stumbled and fell down "Woah!" she exclaims as she fell she looked around only to realize that she had run directly into an old man. "oh I'm so sorry I wasn't paying attention to where I was going!" she exclaims apologetically getting back to her feet before offering the old man her hand to assist him up.

"oh it's quite alright young lady, we all feel like running away from our problems sometimes." the old man chuckles taking her hand and getting to his Fett before picking up a staff Marina hadn't noticed before. It was rather peculiar actually it was decorated with various sea shells and it was carved in the shape of a Chinese dragon. "If you want I can help you escape your problems... indefinitely" the old man offers with a small smile

"what would make you think I have any problems?" Marina asks with a slight snap as she was still really irritated.

"maybe because it's written all over you, from the way you were running to the way you spoke just now, would you like my assistance in escaping your problems, or not?" he asks looking at her with slight irritation.

"I suppose I would, I have nothing to lose." Marina sighs and smiles slightly awkwardly, after all it isn't his fault her parents were trying to force her into marriage. the old man taps his came on the ground three times and mumbles something incoherently, then it starts to storm lightning flashes over head and it starts pouring, the old man then shoves her into the oceans waves with a force Marina would never have imagined the old man to be capable of possessing after all he looked very frail.

Marina tries to get back up only to find that she cannot as the old man begins to cackle maniacly as he watches her struggle for a bit before walking away still cackling. "Why can't I get up!" Marina shouts in frustration kicking her legs out only to see that her legs had been replaced with a long mermaids tail. She gasps in shock her eyes bulging wide. 'I can't stay here!' she thinks in shock before quickly deciding to pull herself further into the water until she was deep enough that she could swim a safe distance away from the beach.
