Kilometers underground, deep beneath Dusken, the bowels of the earth had become a devastated battlefield of apocalyptic proportions.
Countless subterranean impacts and explosions had carved out immense caverns larger than several football stadiums, only for them to collapse again and again. Those same cavities had then been flooded by oceans of incandescent magma and unbearable blasts before being ripped open anew, expanding ever wider as the escalating conflict showed no sign of slowing down.
Spawn corpses formed piles as tall as small mountains stretching as far as the eye could see, making the limited space inside these cratered caves, already half-filled with lava, feel even more oppressive.
And as if to make their hopeless situation even more undeniable, the number of spawn still very much alive vastly exceeded their losses.
