PoV Gloria
My eyes snapped open as the login finished and my world re-entered the world of Grand Adventure Online. My body twitched a little, and I rose from the Inn bed and stretched as I got up and stood. I quickly got out of bed and walked over to the bathroom, wondering why they would put these things in the game.
Food, drink, and sexual needs I could understand, but the fact that I had to wash myself was something I could not understand. It was something I had learned early in the game, especially as an Assassin, that YOU had to use a shower. Not all the time, but you had to wash yourself once in a while, and you also had to use the RIGHT soaps and shampoos in the game.
It took me by surprise many times in the early game because there was a mancanic that no one really thinks about until it slaps you in the face. And I barely survived being slapped in the face with these realities. But the monsters in this game HAD a FUCKING NOSE!
They can sniff you out if you have not concealed your scent properly. Coming from the wrong direction of the wind? They will sniff you and at least CHECK OUT what the smell was. They will scout it, and if they think you are too powerful, they will flee. If they think you are a juicy target, they will come kill you. That makes things much more complicated if you ignore this mechanic, and I quickly learned that you can use these senses against them, too.
Luring and traps were an assassin's bread and butter.
Assassins trap people in their world. They wait in places where their prey feels most comfortable, then attack. Or they wait for opportunities or make them. It was something I was quickly learning, a variety of ways to deal with my opponents.
I quickly pulled up my status and sighed.

My experience bar was still so empty, and my stats felt lacking. The world of an assassin was difficult, and I specced a bit too hard into strength at the beginning. The problem was that some of the early people whom I assassinated needed extra strength to be killed. They had tough skin, and the short sword I am using was not sharp enough, even with effort.
Agility brought me to the target and allowed me to push the blade into them. Get there silently, but the strength was CRUCIAL to finish the kill. They were not humans most of the time; they were beasts, monsters, or powerful people that could survive a nick to their throat.
These are not baseline humans.
I could not help but sigh, thinking about how close I was to death to learn that lesson.
My thoughts changed about some of the things I heard when reading about the game, and I knew there were ways to increase stats without leveling up. Through food or something like that, but they were expensive, and I needed to save for something like that. God, I wished I could pick some of those up, but I would not cheat on Daddy. I would do this legitimately and not bring real-world money into the game.
Not that he would notice my purchases anyway. Daddy does not monitor my spending unless I do something outrageous. Wants me to have an independent mind that does not seek to question him each time.
I shook my head of thoughts of Daddy, and I returned to the moment as I got ready and reviewed the quest that I have to do this weekend.

I looked at the picture provided of a young man with a large, charming smile on his face, and I hated him instantly. He had everything a man would most likely want, but that smile on his face reminded me of so many men that I had to deal with today that it was almost cathartic that I got to kill a prick that looked just like them.
Either way, I had to find him and start to hunt for ways to kill him without others being the wiser.
I looked at the pair of dice in my hands that they provided to me, and they were just ordinary dice. Nothing special about them, so I could not understand why they wanted a calling card left.
Not my problem, though. They probably just wanted them to know who put the hit out on them. Ten gold was not something I was about to pass up easily for this man. I quickly put on some basic equipment and smiled at my short sword.

It was a powerful weapon that I picked up and was now my main weapon. I had some throwing knives, but the equipment in this game was not exactly easy to get, I found. It was not like the games I used to play, where uncommons, rares, and even epics were handed out easily if you killed the right people.
I could not help but groan at how hard the game was.
The experience needed was bullshit; the experience given was low. The equipment was sparse, and the gold did not really flow. This was like being poor all over again, with the world trying to stomp you down.
I really needed to find time to talk to Victoria about this.
Shrugging off more thoughts, I finished getting ready and made sure to hide my short swords as I packed up to go. I quickly left the room and headed down stairs and picked up a dinner that came with the room and let myself enjoy the simple meal. It was not much, but it was something. I paid a couple of copper coins for another plate before I got up to go.
I strode from the quiet inn that was just starting to see an increase in customers and walked down the street. It was time to find my target, then find out how to eliminate them.
