Day: 2
Location: Kirishima High - Ground Floor
Time: 9:33 A.M
Remaining time before Night: 8 hours and 27 minutes left
Without anyone dawdling behind Kyosei, he took this chance to quicken his descent to the ground floor. Using the stairwell's guardrail, Kyosei used it to slide from one floor to another. It was a technique Kyosei used every time he escaped the student council pursuit. It was dangerous if one didn't know how to optimally balance themselves. Kyosei had no issue with it, so he didn't have much of a problem, and with all of the zombies cleared up on the way, Kyosei was not worried at all.
Thanks to the stairwell's guardrail, he shaved quite a bit of time descending from the clocktower to the ground floor. If only he had a way to use the same technique to climb, then everything would be perfect.
"Hmmm, I don't know the exact location of the transportation office, but if it handles the repairs and maintenance of the school bus, it must be near the parking lot and is accessible by car."
Although Kyosei is familiar with most of the ins and outs of Kirishima High, one of the areas he doesn't explore much is the parking lot. Not only is the parking lot the area where most adults are present, but the break area for teachers is also nearby, which is not a good thing for him, who is a troublemaker and a delinquent.
Now that the teachers are basically gone at this point, aside from Mrs. Haruna and Mr. Leo, there is no need for him to avoid the area.
Since Kyosei and Souichi didn't fully go outside and get to the ground floor during their early run, the area is sprawling with zombies. There are a few scattered all around the area, and Kyosei can easily take them down. To ensure that it will be easier for him and the others later to go down to the ground floor, he decided to clear them all out and ensure that there will be no issues later.
Counting two from his left and three near the front door, Kyosei started to sneak to the nearest zombie. He recognized the guy as one of the bullies who pick on nerds and demand money from them. Kyosei remembered beating sense into him, which allowed him to stop doing his bullying but didn't graduate as a delinquent altogether. To think he would end up becoming a zombie now must be karma now.
Grabbing his long hair and dragging it, he grabbed the second zombie's hair as well, and with force, Kyosei smacked both heads together, crushing them altogether. Considering their heads have become so fragile to the point that crushing them is very easy now, doing that kind of technique is possible without becoming a muscle man.
The execution was quick but not clean. It was dirty with all the blood and various gory stuff now splattered on the wall and floor. After doing the quick execution, Kyosei quickly rolled to the nearest blind spot near the staircase in case the zombies near the door were attracted to what he just did, and of course, they are, as two out of the three zombies started heading to the dead zombie.
Unlike the behavior that the zombies exhibited last night, where they ate the dead zombie remains that got killed by the grenade blast, it seemed like they had no interest in their fellow dead zombie lying without a head on the floor.
"Guess that behavior is exclusive to night. Gonna take note of that and relay that to the nerd of our group."
The other zombie is isolated, so he used the chance to get near and kill the guy. With a quick grab on his collar, he slams the zombie to the wall, smashing his head in. The other two immediately noticed him, but he already anticipated it, so the moment they turned, Kyosei quickly swung his crowbar hard.
Clearing the ground floor entrance, he is finally outside the school. Making sure there aren't any zombies around, he made sure to just check around for any potential dangers before fully going out of the door. It is already open, possibly because the students earlier that morning is the reason. The glass on the door is broken to pieces, which might be what those guys did to gather the attention of the zombies nearby.
"That saved me a lot of trouble." Kyosei quickly made his way to the parking lot after getting out of the entrance.
The school grounds of Kirishima High are big, with lots of areas where students can stay to chat with other students during break time. There are even a few gazebos where students can gather to take lunch or do group studies with their friends. There's even a wide field for students who want to play soccer or practice track and field, ideal for those who are athletic and loves to move around. It was a genuinely good place for students...but now that place is ruined with wandering zombies.
The parking lot is not too far from the main gate. It also has its specific gate for cars. It was for ease of access and to also be far enough from students and avoid accidents altogether.
Arriving at the parking lot, Kyosei is surprised to see a lot of zombies there. They are even feasting on something, while there are also a lot of dead bodies scattered around, their heads bashed. Not too far from the group of zombies is a motorcycle that seems to have toppled over; the rear wheel of the motorcycle is still spinning, which means it was a recent thing.
"Ah...maybe those poor bastards..." Kyosei muttered to himself.
He remembered the noisy students who were practically celebrating earlier. They were something he couldn't forget easily. Although he isn't sure about it, there is a chance that the one that the zombies are feasting on right now is one of those guys, but he might be wrong about that as well.
With the zombies actually focused on something, Kyosei makes his way to the transportation office to find the key before the zombies even notice him sneaking away. There are plenty of zombies there and although he can potentially kill them all, he doesn't want to waste his time doing it.
The Transportation office looks more like a garage shop rather than an office. It is big, and it can indeed house the bus inside. There are also lots of tools there for car maintenance, which is what Okabe said was true. However, he doesn't need them yet. What he needed was the bus spare key. And he needed to get it before any danger is around.
Further back from the garage is the office. He turned the knob of the door, only to find it locked. Sighing, Kyosei fetched his lockpick and started picking the lock with ease, quickly opening it and getting access to it. Inside the office are plenty of papers related to the expenses of the bus, the costs for the spare parts, schedules, and even a list of students who are going to use the bus and where they are being dropped.
As usual, the drawers are locked, but with Kyosei's trusty lockpick, he easily opened them with ease, allowing him to open the drawers one by one. He tried in all cabinets and drawers until he opened one locked drawer and saw a bunch of keys stored inside. Kyosei quickly scanned the keys and noticed that each key had a label. It seems that aside from the bus key, they also keep a few spare keys for the administration office and the whole school's doors.
"Got it," Kyosei read the label of one of the keys and successfully identified it as the bus key. Kyosei searched the pile of keys again to make sure there were no more bus keys present, and after making sure he got the right key without any remaining key aside from the one he was holding, Kyosei grabbed the phone given by Nanami earlier and called the number again.
"How's the search goingthere?" Nanami asked on the phone.
"Got the key. I will inspect the bus first to see if the key does fit and work. I can also check if the bus has issues as well. I will contact you again once I have confirmed that the key I got here is the right one and the bus is ready to go."
"Gotcha. At the very least, the key is now in your possession. We don't need to find a way to hotwire it, even though we can't do it or find the bus driver himself." Nanami chuckled.
"Alright. Gonna call later again."
Kyosei quickly ended the call and put the key to his keychain as he went out of the room. But the moment he was about to head out, a knife was suddenly placed underneath his neck. The sharp edge is clearly ready to slit his throat if he did something wrong.
"Thanks to your effort, we don't need to work too hard to find the key. Now, better hand it over, or this knife will end your life."
