When he flipped the switch and retired to bed, he did not expect to wake up to the blaring noise of the monitor, the smell of iron, or to the intense burning sensation in his sockets. Nor to the choked sobs of a woman, or the rapid murmurs that distinctly sounded like desperate prayers.
He'd later find out that he had died and subsequently reincarnated as a fetus. And the choked sobs and chants were of his new parents. Issei was dubbed the miracle child by the doctor, proclaiming the child had come back from the dead.
Seventeen years had passed since then. He'd made many friends and even more memories. Yet...something remained missing.
